Protection of right of prisoners to humane treatment 8. (1) All persons deprived of their liberty (in this section referred to as “prisoners”) have the right to be treated with humanity and with respect for the inherent dignity of the human person. Printed under Authority by The Regional Law Revision Centre Inc. www.lawrevision.ai LAWS OF TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS Constitution CAP. 1.01 19 Revision Date: 31 Dec 2014 prisoners shall be segregated from convicted prisoners; and every unconvicted prisoner shall be entitled to be treated in a manner appropriate to his or her status as such. (3) Juvenile prisoners shall be segregated from adult prisoners and every juvenile prisoner shall be treated in a manner appropriate to his or her age and legal status and, if he or she is an unconvicted prisoner and unless he or she is earlier released, shall have any criminal proceedings against him or her pursued with the greatest possible expedition.
